Zwemmen

Ja we weten het, het is al weer een poosje terug dat er wat op de blog gezet is. Ik kan me natuurlijk verschuilen achter het standaard druk, druk en nog eens druk, maar eigenlijk is dat natuurlijk geen excuus.

Sinds een paar weken ben ik regelmatig met Renske in het zwembad te vinden en de laatste paar keer is ook Emile mee geweest (en zelfs twee keer de hele familie). Hier zijn ook een paar foto's van gemaakt en daar valt misschien wel uit op te maken hoe Renske het zwemmen vindt.





Yes, yes we know it's been a long time since we have posted some massages on this blog. And it seems to easy to hide behind the excuse it's been a bit hectic these days.

Since a few weeks I have visited the swimming pool with Renske regularly and the last few times Emile joined us. Of course there are some pics of this event and perhaps you can see what Renske thinks about swimming.

The thrilling heroic epos of the battle of the roof is nearing its apotheosis!!!!!

With one side almost covered in ceramic tiles we are nearing D-day..., and hope to be clear of any further leakage as we had during last week's tropical storms....

De spannende Avonturen van de dakdekkers in Heteren bereiken zolangzamerhand hun hoogtepunt!!!

Met één zijde bijna geheel in de 1500 dakpannen komen we bijna bij de spetterende finale, de oplevering, en hopen we verder verschoond te blijven van de ellendige lekkages die we afgelopen week tijdens de welhaast tropische stortregens hadden...

Le jour de gloire est pres'que arrivée!!!
Le grand projet de bricolage et de rénovation du toit par tuiles ceramiques est pas trés loin de son complètement.
Il reste juste quelques petites sections à completer: fermerture des petits ouvertures, les zones autour les fenètres et les extrémites du toit,

We hebben er nog wel een zeiltje over gespannen/we did cover the lot with a tarpaulin...

Long, tiring days - Lange vermoeiende dagen....

Het ontdekken van de wereld is knap vermoeiend!...

Discovering a world tends to make one very tired!....

Renske is goed op gang aan het komen, ze weegt alweer meer dan 3000 gram, is met vlag en wimpel door de gehoortest gekomen (zegt niets over luisterend vermogen) en heeft ook de hielprik overleefd...
Renske is on track though, her weight is already above 3000 grammes, her ears have been tested and are ok (it did not mention anything about Listening though), and she survived the traditional collection of blood samples from her foot...

Inmiddels iets teruggevallen naar 2800 gram, maar weer de goede kant uit aan het gaan....

She dropped weight a little to 2800 grammes, but is catching up nicely again.....

Elle a perdu environ 200 grammes, mais elle fait son mieux en récuperer son poids.....

A daughter!!!....Een dochter!!!....Une fille!!!

No pictures yet, but we, Els and Emile, are very happy to announce the birth of our daugther: Renske

Renske was born 29th of July, 3000 grammes and 50cm long, both Els and Renske are ok.

Nog geen foto's te vinden, maar ze is er wel, Wij, Els en Emile, zijn de 29e Juli verrast met de geboorte van onze dochter Renske...
Ze weegt exact 6 pond en is 50 cm lang, zowel Els als Renske zijn in goede gezondheid

Nous avons l'honneur de vous informer que, le 29 Juillet, notre petite fille, Renske, était né....
Elle pèse 3000 grammes avec une longueur de 50 cm...
Les deux, maman et Renske ont une bonne santé...

Mede doordat de gezinsuitbreiding in spé binnekort voor de deur staat zijn we zo'beetje in versneld tempo de laatste hand aan het leggen aan de laatste fase van de verher, herbouwing van de binnenzijde van slot Heteren... kijk maar....

Since last week our house has been been equipped with a very peculiar piece of furniture which is fitted with a yellowish cushioning with butterflyprint. Apparently it has to do something with a newborn....

It seems to be somewhat of a family tradition that the grandmum to be prepares the cushioning, as was the case here....

Sinds afgelopen week is ons huishouden een nogal apart meubelstuk rijker, voorzien van een gelige bekleding met een gezellig vlinderprintje. Naar verluidt heeft het iets te maken met de komst van een boreling. Het schijnt een soort van de bijl framilietraditieachtig dingetje te zijn dat de oma in spé dit in elkaar knutselt....

Fresh herbs..... / Nieuwe Kruiden

We thought that our house was rather empty after Taco's untimely departure, so we checked out the animal shelter and, of course, couldn't resist....
As indicated in the tite: we acquired some new herbs: Pepper and Curry...
Curry is 8 years old and a lovely reddish purring feline,

We vonden ons huis erg leeg na het vroegtijdige heengaan van Taco, dus zijn we eens bij het asiel gaan kijken, en natuurlijk gingen we voor de Bijl.....
Zoals in de titel: we hebben een compleet kruidenrek erbij: Peper en Kerrie
Kerrie is 8 jaar oud en mevrouw is een lieve spinnende rooie theemuts

Pepper is 6 years old, likes attention and clearly is the man in the house!
Peper is 6 jaar oud, houdt veel van aandacht en is echt de man in huis....

The Buddah Bar......

It has arrived!!!

Our painting of Buddah, made in Thailand and bought during our stay in Pattaya, that we forwarded by mail has arrived....

We'll happily serve you a good oriental meal in our Buddah Bar....!

Goodbye to Taco

We regret to have to announce that Taco, our 4-legged furry roommate is no longer amongst the living. He peacefully passed away whilst we were in Thailand and has lived a happy life in freedom with us.

And Sawasdee from Krabi and Ko Phi Phi

Well, there is even a lot to learn when in Thailand..... so we decided to sign up for a cooking course: penang curry, pad thai and some other local delicacies....

So, we then took a longtailboat, fitted with a car engine and extremely long propellor shaft, to Railay beach, which takes about 15 minutes. Railay seems to be THE spot for climbers from all over the world, and for experience the ZEN feeling when floating in the sea and watching the steep cliffs...

Well, we did the Zen thingie and completed the day with a bit of snorkeling, sun bathing and having several things to drink. Snorkeling is nice, but I do not recommend the water here for diving....

Tomorrow we'll be off to Ao Nang...to discover the secrets of the Thai cuisine....
From there we aim to go tho Phi phi island prior to flying back to Bangkok....
